This weekend Ben is going to the Buick Open golf tournament, so I'm having a girls weekend with a few of my best friends. I'm sure lots of laughing, movie watching, sunning ourselves, and eating will take place. :)

Camping, Cottage, and Car
Last week was great. I took Thursday and Friday off from work and went camping with my mom, sister-in-law, sister, and nephew and niece. Saturday we had a wedding (I forgot my camera), and Sunday we were at the family cottage. Here are a few pictures from the events... and I finally took some pictures of the car (please excuse the fact that it is FILTHY)!

My husband sent me this. I found it amusing, so I thought I'd share.
Oil change instructions for Women:
1) Pull up to Jiffy Lube when the mileage reaches 3000 miles since the last oil
change.
2) Drink a cup of coffee.
3) 15 minutes later, write a check and leave with a properly maintained
vehicle.
Money spent:
Oil Change $25.00
Coffee $1.00
Total $26.00

1) Wait until Saturday, drive to auto parts store and buy a case of oil,
filter, kitty litter, hand cleaner and a scented tree, for$50.00.
2) Stop by 7/11 and buy a case of beer for $20, drive home.
3) Open a beer and drink it.
4) Jack car up. Spend 30 minutes looking for jack stands.
5) Find jack stands under kid's pedal car.
6) In frustration, open another beer and drink it.
7) Place drain pan under engine.
8) Look for 9/16 box end wrench.
9) Give up and use crescent wrench.
10) Unscrew drain plug.
11) Drop drain plug in pan of hot oil: splash hot oil on you in process. Cuss.
12) Crawl out from under car to wipe hot oil off of face and arms. Throw kitty
litter on spilled oil.
13) Have another beer while watching oil drain.
14) Spend 30 minutes looking for oil filter wrench.
15) Give up; crawl under car and hammer a screwdriver through oil filter and
twist off.
16) Crawl out from under car with dripping oil filter splashing oil everywhere
from holes. Cleverly hide old oil filter among trash in trash can to avoid
environmental penalties. Drink a beer.
17) Install new oil filter making sure to apply a thin coat of oil to gasket
surface.
18) Dump first quart of fresh oil into engine.
19) Remember drain plug from step 11.
20) Hurry to find drain plug in drain pan.
21) Drink beer.
22) Discover that first quart of fresh oil is now on the floor. Throw kitty
litter on oil spill.
23) Get drain plug back in with only a minor spill. Drink beer.
24) Crawl under car getting kitty litter into eyes. Wipe eyes with oily rag
used to clean drain plug. Slip with stupid crescent wrench tightening drain
plug and bang knuckles on frame removing any excess skin between knuckles and
frame.
25) Begin cussing fit.
26) Throw stupid crescent wrench.
27) Cuss for additional 5 minutes because wrench hit bowling trophy.
28) Beer.
29) Clean up hands and bandage as required to stop blood flow.
30) Beer.
31) Dump in five fresh quarts of oil.
32) Beer.
33) Lower car from jack stands.
34) Move car back to apply more kitty litter to fresh oil spilled during any
missed steps.
35) Beer.
36) Test drive car.
37) Get pulled over: arrested for driving under the influence.
38) Car gets impounded.
39) Call loving wife, make bail.
40) 12 hours later, get car from impound yard.

beautiful weekend + new car = a very happy Heather!!
It was another great weekend. The weather was beautiful, and our weekend was a good mix of being social and relaxing.
Friday night we went to On the Boarder with our friends Blake and Brooke and then they came over afterward. We played Redneck Life... its the game of LIFE, but the redneck version. The goal at the end is to have the most teeth left. It's hilarious! We followed that up with some Guitar Hero and MarioKart.
Saturday we had a nice breakfast at the in-laws with Jesse and Julie, who were in town for a wedding. After that, Ben and I went car shopping and we got a new car!!! It's a 2006 Mazda 6. It only has 23,000 miles and 2 years of the full warranty left. I love it and am so excited! I'll try and post some pictures soon. Unfortunately, Ben is the one who will be driving it to work everyday instead of me, but oh well. This was our first "big" purchase together. We decided to go relax by the pool a bit after our purchase. I'm not used to spending that much money at one time, so I needed to relax a bit! :P
Saturday evening brought more hanging out with Jesse and Julie and the rest of Ben's family.
Today we celebrated Father's Day at Ben's aunts house, then went to an open house for my cousin, and then headed out to Grand Haven to visit my parents who are camping. It was a busy day, but still nice.
This week will be great - only 3 days of work for me!!!

The weekend
It's about 12:20 am Saturday morning, but since Ben and I weren't going to be home all day/evening we turned off our AC and our apartment is roasting! It's too hot to go to bed, so I figured as I wait for it to cool off again, I may as well update!
Tonight Ben and I babysat Luke and Anna (our nephew and niece). We always have a great time hanging out with them, and tonight is no different. Luke has more personality than most other 2.5 yr olds, so it always proves to be an entertaining time.
Tomorrow Ben is helping a friend hang some drywall in his basement, and I'm not sure what I'll be up too. If its nice, I'm sure I'll head out to my parents pool to start working on my tan. I may try and fit in a bit of shopping as well. Since the fire, my wardrobe is a bit lacking. Late afternoon we're going to head out to Ben's parents cottage and spend the night there. I'm so ready for my first boating trip of the season. Ben and his brother will no doubt be in the water tubing and wakeboarding, but my guess is that I'll be waiting a few weeks for that while the water warms up.

Boston recap
The days have been flying by since we returned from our trip, but I finally found a few minutes to sit and post a few pictures. If any of you ever have the opportunity to go to Boston - GO!!! There is so much to see and do in the city. I loved all the history and how easy it was to get around. We landed Friday morning around 8:30 and after waiting a bit for our courtesy shuttle to the rental car place, we were on our way!
We decided to drive out to our hotel first. The primary reason we were in town was for the 2008 NCAA Lacrosse tournament which was being played at Gillette Stadium, which is about 20 miles outside of town. Our hotel was halfway between the city and the stadium, which ended up being perfect. The commuter train into the city was about a 3 minute walk from our hotel, so it was easier and cheaper than parking into the city. Once getting back into the city, we headed out to see the USS Constitution aka "Old Ironsides". It's part of the Freedom Trail and it has been a commissioned ship in the Navy since 1797. It was crazy to be on something that old. After touring that we decided to go on a "Duck tour". This is a fun way to see the highlights of the city - plus it's something you can't do anywhere else! The "ducks" are old WWII vehicles that can go on both land and water. Our driver on the tour was hilarious. We spent the rest of the afternoon walking around the city, going to the Commons (a park in the city), and having a delicious dinner at Legal Seafoods before heading back to the hotel.
Saturday we went to the lacrosse tournament. There were two games on Saturday: Virginia vs. Syracuse and Duke vs. Johns Hopkins. Both were really good games. The first game went into double sudden death overtime, and the second game was only won by one goal as well. After sitting in the sun all day, we were exhausted and decided to just order pizza for dinner.
Sunday was back in the city - we went to the coast and walked around a few of the piers, ate at the infamous "no name" restaurant, walked more of the Freedom trail, and enjoyed the beautiful weather. If you do get to Boston, make sure to pay the $5 per person to go into the Old State House. They have some amazing stuff in there!!! The balcony of the State House is where the Declaration of Independence was read from, and inside the have an actual vile filled with tea leaves from the Boston Tea Party (one of the guys involved shook them out of his boot when he got home that night and saved them!), John Hancock's dress coat, and many other cool pieces of history. Also be sure to go to the Granary Burial grounds - Paul Revere, Sam Adams, and many others are buried here. It's so cool!
Monday was the Division 1 final game - Syracuse vs. Johns Hopkins. It was another great game. Lacrosse is such a fun sport to watch. If you've never seen it, you should definitely check it out.
Tuesday we had an afternoon flight, but before we left we made sure to visit the Sam Adams brewery. It was an interesting tour, not to mention the free beer and glass!!!
